About us

Multibank Scotland is a pioneering Scottish charity committed to Fighting Poverty and Fighting Pollution. We are dedicated to improving lives through the circular economy by redistributing surplus goods to those in need. By collaborating with businesses that have excess inventory, we ensure essential items—such as clothing, hygiene products and household supplies—reach families and children in need.

Our story is rooted in the success of The Big Hoose Project (2022–2024), a transformative pilot initiative spearheaded by Pauline Buchan, strategic manager of The Cottage Family Centre, and former Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Partnering with Amazon and other major businesses, The Big Hoose provided millions of essential items to families in crisis. Multibank Scotland continues this vital work, building on its legacy and growing its reach.

Our values

  1. Sustainability

We give surplus goods a second life, reducing waste while supporting families and protecting the planet.

  2. Empowerment

We equip frontline workers and partners with the resources they need to support families, while fostering stronger communities across organisations through shared learning, collaboration and connection.

  3. Innovation

We rethink how support is delivered, adapting to changing needs, testing new approaches, and ensuring our work remains responsive, practical and effective.

  4. Partnership

We build on the work of brilliant charities and organisations across the country, working alongside them to amplify impact, not duplicate it.

  5. Dignity

We believe everyone deserves access to essentials with respect and without stigma and we strive to ensure support is delivered in a way that restores confidence, stability and choice.
